Jerry Martin

Layton Zbornik has been entertaining folks since he was a very little boy. When he was 8 he was singing on the radio. As a teenager growing up in his home state of Iowa in the 50’s under the name of Jerry Martin, he wrote and recorded Iowa’s very first Rock and roll record the now famous “Janet,” which is one of the world’s most collectable records.

In the 60’s and 70’s he became King Zbornik and one of America’s top DJ’s of the rock and roll era setting ratings records all over the country. At the age of 45 he went to college and became a teacher for the next 15 years. Along the way he wrote a book and became a popular voice for peace.

1997 saw him inducted into the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and soon he formed a band and Jerry Martin & the sounds became a popular concert draw. He also created two individual programs. For schools his “4R’s” (Reading, Ritin, Rithmatic & Rock and Roll), and for the adults, “Juke Boxes, Ducktails & Pool Halls” both became big hits.
